According to HotNews.ro, Microsoft's (NASDAQ:MSFT) goal for Romania in the next nine months is to get for the new operating system Windows 7 a market share in excess of Vista today, which is 19% of the market, said Calin Tatomir, head of Microsoft Romania.
He made these comments during the official event to launch of Windows 7. Most users will migrate from XP to W7, a smaller part will go from Vista to the new system, Hotnews.ro quoted Tudor Galos, Head of Windows in Romania, as saying.
When asked what market share could be achieved by Windows 7, Tatomir answered that "Vista is about 19% of the market and I hope that in nine months, Windows 7 will equal or exceed this figure. Windows 7 in English was launched on October 22 and nine days later came in the Romanian version.
The people from Microsoft claim that nearly 100,000 people in the country have downloaded the test version which was available in the last four months. According to Galos, Windows 7 now has a rate of about 6% in the country, i.e. an estimated 250,000 computers. Recent studies have revealed that Eastern Europe has the largest market share for Windows 7.
